Hello and welcome to the second episode in our line of specials looking at directors. In this episode we take a look at David Lean.
David Lean was a British Filmmaker who was born in 1908 and died in 1991, and during his lifetime amassed 19 directorial credits. Now, whilst this isn't the largest number of films by a director that we will come across in this journey through film, some of the films are of the most epic proportions.
Our dedicated listeners will know that we have already covered two of his films in our podcasts, namely the 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia and the lesser-known 1952 film The Sound Barrier. In this episode Marc takes a look at This Happy Breed (1944), Paul has a Brief Encounter (1945), Michael revisits The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) and Robert sees Doctor Zhivago (1965). The podcast finishes with the whole team taking a look at A Passage to India (1984).
The next podcast takes a look at the cinema release of The Shallows, the home release of The Jungle Book and the classic film is Doctor Strangelove.
