In the fourth edition of our occasional series on classic horror films, Paul, Marc and Robert take a look at The Fog. Released in 1980, the film was directed by John Carpenter, who also created the film score and co-wrote the screenplay with Debra Hill. The film stars Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh and Hal Holbrook.
This was Carpenter's first release after the success of his 1978 horror classic, Halloween. The film takes place in a small coastal town in California where a strange fog brings with it death in the hands of the vengeful ghosts of some mariners. The film was released to mixed reviews but was a commercial success and became something of a cult following in subsequent years. For some reason they felt the need to remake the film in 2005.
The next podcast will be episode 16 of the main podcast will take a look at Deadpool and Spotlight for cinema releases (thanks to the UK release of The Boy being pushed back to March), The Martian which has landed as a home release and the classic film is The General.
